Recently at a show in Tokyo a Philips were showing off some transparent OLED displays. The screens were capable of letting about 70% - 75% light through when switched off.
The idea is great as it could turn any window in to a display. OLED’s tend to be very thin due to no backlight being needed as each individual pixel can be lit up a different colour with it’s own light source. Samsung have created a couple of fantastic LCD monitors, one of which is a wireless USB display. Another feature about these two monitors is that they sit at desk level rather then on a stand allowing for a screen to be inline with your laptop rather then a few inches above.

Samsung have created a super bright outdoor LCD digital display. The screen measures 70 inches diagonal and is currently the brightest panel in the world to be mass produced.
The panel is rated at 2000nit while the next brightest is at 1500nit. This makes it one third brighter then it’s followers. Having such a brightness about it allows it to be used in the toughest of conditions outside in a whole range of lighting conditions.
