The Plica is a new mobile phone concept which combines two screens which work as a touch keyboard and touch screen. When opened up, the screens touch in the middle allowing for a large working space to be used. The device also folds both ways so that you can close it up and have the screens on the insides for transport or have the screens on the outside so you can use it as a regular iPhone type Read more… »

This concept glider, dubbed Orlens, is attention-grabbing through its rather beautiful shape alone. But when you look into how it would work, you can see that designer Roland Cernat has put a lot of thought into its greenness. It would be made of entirely recycled materials, and be recyclable itself, would have photovoltaic cells atop the wings for energy for eco-friendly propulsion and have an aerodynamically-efficient body. For the partially sited who cannot read from a screen, this phone has a blue bar down the sides which light up and convey different messages through a series of flashes. Read more… »

This concept from designer Kong Fanwen lies somewhere between minimalist Apple keyboards, and projecting laser touch ones. The No-Key is very simple: just a light source, a camera and an etched sheet of glass, showing the key positions. You just type, the cam sees your contact with the glass and sends appropriate commands to your PC. And one image suggests it’d be waterproof, so… blogging from the bath? I want one please! This Eclipse Intuit, by Eddie Goh, features a touch keypad with tactile feedback, 5 megapixel camera with built-in photo editing software, a giant touchscreen and a chemical-based thin solar skin that will charge the battery when exposed to light. It sounds all well and good, except how often does anyone keep their phone out in the open gathering sunlight? Usually if I’m out and about, my cell stays firmly in Read more… »
