Panasonic Toughbooks: CF-52 & CF-74

Panasonic has announced the launch two notebooks, named CF-52 and CF-74 that extend the Toughbooks family. As the term suggests, these models are new semi-rugged notebooks. Based on Intel’s latest Centrino 2 Processor Technology, the 15.4-inch CF-52 and 13.3-inch CF-74 also employ 160 GB hard disk drive, the 802.11n Wi-Fi standard to wirelessly stream video, a carrying handle and optional embedded access to mobile broadband networks from major wireless carriers.
The Panasonic CF-52 is a semi-rugged desktop replacement notebook, whereas the CF-74 is a mobile workhorse laptop. Both the robust laptops have gone through drop and spill-resistant test and meet their standard. They also come in durable design and also feature magnesium alloy cases, flexible internal connectors, shock-mounted hard drives and LCDs and spill-resistant keyboards.
Kyp Walls, director, product management, Panasonic Computer Solutions Company, explained, “Both the Toughbook 74, which has been a workhorse for field forces since its initial launch in 2006, and the desktop replacement Toughbook 52, launched last year, are undergoing their first significant upgrades after a year of image stability. Through these measures, we help to achieve our dual aim of enhanced ROI and lowered total cost of ownership.”
Known for is ruggedness and durability, the Toughbook range of laptop is perfect for extreme environment. Therefore, the line-up has proved to be a great device for army, healthcare, hospitality etc.
Both are scheduled to reach US by August 2008, the Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 and CF-52 would sell for $1,949
