The versatile Android mobile phone platform is set to get a funky application in the form of web server software. i-Jetty technology allows mobile phone users to create AJAX and comet-enabled websites on an Android mobile phone. With this software running, it will be possible to access your mobile phone from any desktop or laptop PC connected to the internet.
The web server software is light weight at the moment although it can serve dynamic content if sat behind a dedicated HTTP server. The software runs as a servlet on Android and once running, the phone can be accessed from anywhere. Nokia, who’s supposedly super loyal to the Symbian platform, is currently in talks with Microsoft (says one of Microsoft’s marketing directors) to load Windows Mobile on the handset maker’s phones. Here’s what Nokia already uses of Microsoft’s: ActiveSync and PlayReady, but like an anxious teenaged lover, Microsoft is working “closely” with Nokia and wants to “go all the way.” It’s too early to determine whether or not you’re going to be able to buy a Nokia with WinMo on it, but it’s all but guaranteed that they’ll still be selling phones with Symbian—so no worries S60 fans.

Looks like there may have been a possible leak of the next version of Apple’s iPhone firmware, 1.1.3. According to Gear Live, it can now handle SMS to multiple recipients, the springboard (home screen) supports reordered icons and pagination (as well as web bookmarks), and Google maps gets hybrid view and that nifty cell-based location system. If this is all Steve plans to announce iPhone-wise at Macworld next month, we think there will be more than a few disappointed iPhone users out there. Then again, home screen pagination would kind of imply an SDK to make use of all those slots, so maybe the real news is under the hood.

Speed boost or no, all of you clamoring for some hot Vista SP1 action will be able to get a beta-style fix in December, according to ZDNet. Apparently “selected testers” will get a release candidate in the first week of the month, with general availability to come the week after. ZDNet says the current SP1 build being tested is 17051, but it’s not clear whether that’s the version to be released or not. Like all things SP1, looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
