The versatile Android mobile phone platform is set to get a funky application in the form of web server software. i-Jetty technology allows mobile phone users to create AJAX and comet-enabled websites on an Android mobile phone. With this software running, it will be possible to access your mobile phone from any desktop or laptop PC connected to the internet.
The web server software is light weight at the moment although it can serve dynamic content if sat behind a dedicated HTTP server. The software runs as a servlet on Android and once running, the phone can be accessed from anywhere. Early usage of the i-Jetty software will be for features such as accessing your calendar, phone book and making calls via your mobile phone from your PC. However, I can imagine this to be something quite a bit bigger Read more… »

This new Getac PS535E won’t be swiping any work from Jonathan Ive in the near future, it won’t make him cry either, which is certainly a step in the right direction. The internals are decent as well, with GPS, 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth, a 400MHz Samsung processor, 64MB of SDRAM and 2GB of flash storage. There’s a transflective 3.5-inch QVGA touchscreen fronting the device, and Windows Mobile 5.0 Premium is holding it all together. No word on price or availability.

The chaps over at Terminal.hu have just managed to get hold of some exclusive Xperia X1 images. The new pictures show the device will be running the yet-to-be-announced Windows Mobile 6.1 OS, and that explains why we weren’t allowed a thorough hands-on at Mobile World Congress 2008. That may not be a shocker, but the other tidbits of information we have gathered are rather interesting. Besides what we knew before, we can now tell the Xperia X1 will have a Qualcomm 7200A CPU running at 528 MHz, 128MB RAM and a nice ‘n’ juicy, 1500 mAh battery. Sure, we were not overwhelmed with our first gimped hands-on, but on paper it looks like this sure is one beast. The 528 MHz processor has us excited, but with it being Windows Mobile, we’ll be surprised if the onboard RAM doesn’t prove itself to be insufficient for heavy multitasking.
