The iPhone has impressed a lot of people since its launch. There are a ton of features which set the phone apart from others, such as a multi touch screen, incredible browser and iPod all bundled in to one device. Now, you are able to use the iPhone as a modem to get online by using a program called Tinyproxy. It allows you to surf the net on a MAC laptop at EDGE speeds which are not huge, but still acceptable. Some will wish it had 3G, but EDGE is ok for doing regular browsing on the internet. Also, if I am correct I believe data transfer on an iPhone is free which ultimately allows you to get online with your laptop for free. You can download Tinyproxy from here.

The guys over at Yankodesign bring us another cool concept idea. This time it is the Brix phone in which the whole surface acts as a screen. To make it even better, the brix phones are capable of being connected together to make larger screens as pictured above. When connecting them together, one of them acts as the media hub for all devices. According to the designers there will be no limit to how many can be connected together and the restriction is only based on how many people you actually know who have them. Seems like a good idea although I think flexible displays will move quicker then this.

We’re perfectly happy with the brushed aluminum backs of our iPhones, but some people are disconcerted by the difference between the back’s black bottom and aluminum top. Now the Cellular Nationwide Network is offering the Apple iPhone OEM Metal Black Rear Cover, a replacement for that aluminum back that gives your iPhone an ominous-looking, totally blackass body. So far, so good. The only problem is, it’s delicate surgery taking off that back, not just a matter of unscrewing couple of screws here and there. See how tricky that task is here. If you’re up for it, though, plunk down your $48.99, and then cry havoc! Let slip the dogs of war, and soon you’ll have one badass-looking iPhone. Could void your warranty. You, sir, are a braver man than I

Here’s a free way to control your PC from an iPhone, thanks to Nate True at cre.ations.net. Using TightVNC, software that lets you remotely control your PC desktop (sorry, it’s not Mac-friendly yet), he’s made a couple of simple changes that let you use the iPhone’s touchscreen interface to control your PC from afar. Here’s how it works:
It’s just a matter of downloading a few files, extracting them and running them on your PC, setting a default password and then typing your computer’s IP address into your iPhone in Safari’s address bar. Suddenly your iPhone can left and right click, scroll up and down, enter text and drag-and-drop stuff on your PC’s desktop, using your iPhone’s touchscreen, zoomerific interface.
The downsides? You might have to configure your router to forward port 5800. We also noticed you’re going to need to do lots of zooming on that desktop, because that text looks awfully small on the iPhone screen. Even so, this looks like tons of fun, and we intend to try it. Download the files at the link below, and let us know about your results.
