The Time Machine Clock is a kinetic display device that eschews the normal conventions of a timepiece - hands, to you and me - and instead replaces them with an altogether more elaborate means of saying ‘ten past two’. A central spindle counts the seconds, releasing a ball every minute. Once five minutes is reached, the five minute ball is released. These balls accumulate until 12 have been released, whereupon the one hour ball is set free and rolls into place. This continues on the hour, every hour. Along the way, a precision movement mechanism ensures complete accuracy.

The Pix-L UMPC concept from Jean Hong is designed primarily for those who feel compelled to hit the internet first thing in the morning and just before they go to sleep. It even features an alarm clock dock and a design that allows you to flip the device over for easy browsing while lying on your stomach. Canvas is the name of this concept laptop computer which was designed by Kyle Cherry. It is designed specifically for designers or artists. The Canvas appears to be about A3 in size and features a navigator which is a 4 way controller to scroll around images, a side bar which contains all the tools bars needed which keeps the main main workspace completely clear, a touch pad which works in a similar way to a Wacom and other handy controls which a designer might need.
The concept idea of the Canvas is to allow users with little or no experience to make a switch from traditional to digital workflows. It will accomplish this by using a familiar interface. Read more… »
