Samsung is all geared up to present an innovative mobile phone that would use water to charge. The micro fuel cell and hydrogen generator is the new development by Samsung that has the capability to charge handsets for around 10 hours on water.
Oh Yong-soo, vice president of Samsung’s research centre, stated, “When the handset is turned on, metal and water in the phone react to produce hydrogen gas. The gas is then supplied to the fuel cell where it reacts with oxygen in the air to generate power.”
Samsung foresees the launch of the hydro-powered mobile phone in near 2010. The unique technology is already running, however, the company wants the generator to deliver a longer charge time.
