Digg Founder, Kevin Rose has revealed a speculation relating to the 3G iPhone. He claims that the 3G iPhone, which is expected to be launched in a few months, will incorporate video chat capabilities.
Recently in the Podcast show ‘Diggnation’, Rose stated that Apple may be confining third parties from authoring applications that run in both the foreground and background partly. The reason behind this is that the company doesn’t want a competitor to its own mobile iChat application that will do just that. This means that the company wants to reserve that privilege for its own applications.
The rumor also mentioned that the 3G version of the iPhone would feature two digital cameras that are located on the front and the back side of the handset. The camera on the front side is situated behind the transparent touch-screen, whereas the second one is placed in a usual place.
With the help of the front-mounted camera, it is believed that users will be able to have live video conferencing via AT&T’s 3G wireless network. Users may get the freedom to video chat with computer-based iChat users and even second-generation iPhone users.
All the above mentioned functions are predicted by Kevin Rose. In the past there were situations where his remarks on the iPhone were found to be false. For instance, he said that Apple would introduce the handset with a slide-out keyboard, two separate battery compartments and make it available for both CDMA and GSM networks, which never turned out to be true.
